Custom categories?
I'm assuming that it isn't currently possible to create custom categories since I've been unable to find out how to do that or find any mention of that being a feature.

Hi Donavon,
Yep, you can customize your categories. See the attached image. Hover your mouse where the arrows are. A button will appear to let you do that.
We are currently working on re-jiggering our interface to make this more clear.
Thanks.

That works, but unfortunately I think I found a bug. I imported a bunch of records via a CSV file. They displayed correctly in the preview and I had it formatted as requested. When everything came over all items had the amount set at $0.00 and caused everything to be an expense (I used Google Docs to create and export the spreadsheet to csv).
I removed all of the imported entries because of the $0 balance for each of the imported items, but I also noticed that the categories that were automatically created during the import didn't show up when editing categories. Now that the entries are gone, it seems I can't even go back and create those entries manually, even though they don't show in the list. 8-/

Hi Donavon,
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. In your CSV do you have dollar signs or anything in the amount column?
Thanks.

Thanks. Totally missed that in our example. We just removed the dollar sign.

I am still unable to create a custom category with the same name of one that was in my imported csv file even though no entries have that category anymore. It doesn't even show up in the list, but when I type it in it doesn't get added. An example would be:
Advertising Revenue

Why was this closed? This still isn't resolved!

Opps. Sorry. I thought it was resolved. I miss-understood.
We will take a look at it today and get back to you by tomorrow.

Hi Donavon,
Sorry for the wait. Thanks for pointing out a bug. As you can see from the samples attached you can have an expense category or an income category. You can have the same name category in both expense and income. We had a bug that did not check if the category you were adding via import was an expense or income.
Everything should be fixed. Attached is the sample data we used to test this. If by chance things are still messing up for you could you add some data to the workbook.csv that breaks it so we can test further.
For your headache on this. If you ever upgrade to a paid account send us an email and we will give you a few months free in the form of a credit.
Thanks.
